Newark Mayor Cory Booker?s communications director, Anne Torres, is resigning from her position effective today, according to PolitickerNJ.com. The blog reports that sources claim the resignation is a direct result of Booker?s national media woes after attacking President Obama?s campaign strategy on Meet the Press.

While PolitickerNJ doesn?t go into any detail about what happened or why specifically Torres felt compelled to leave, they attribute it to ?internal administration strife in the aftermath of Booker?s appearance on Meet the Press,? according to sources. Booker has laid low in the aftermath of his comments and subsequent modification of them in a YouTube video.
Update: Politico acquires a comment from Torres:
Effective today, I am resigning from my position as Communications Director. It has been a pleasure to serve in this Administration for six years, and as a Newarker, there is no greater reward than to work for the city that you love. I?ve had the opportunity to work with an amazing team, and wish the Mayor the best.
