It wasn't supposed to be this way... {closed}

Ali Hasting was never really one of those super happy, upbeat people. He'd always be the first one to point out flaws in a "perfect" plan or say the words to just make the sunshine go away, it seemed. Still, he'd managed to be very close to his little sister, Alexandra. But, now, even he wanted to find the good in things. It'd been about fourteen days since his parents had died, ten since his sister woke up from her coma. He sighed as he pulled into the driveway of the house he rented in downtown Franklin, Tennessee. The U-haul trailer hooked on to the back of his truck had all of his sister's things and some of their parents, the rest he just decided to let his Aunt Mary have, after all, she was his mother's twin sister.

His landlady's teenaged son Evan was there quickly enough to help with all the things, seeing as his mother was very sympathetic of Ali and Alexandra's situation. Once they'd finished getting Alexa's things up to the spare room, he thanked Evan and the boy left without too much to say. He was a nice kid, though, Ali knew that much. He scratched his chin while contemplating if he should unpack a little for his sister, and it was then that he remembered he hadn't shaved in a while, and that just wouldn't do, Aunt Mary would be bringing Alexa over in just an hour or so. To be honest, he'd considered letting the girl stay with her, since that meant she wouldn't have to leave all her friends in Indiana, but his parents wishes had been very clear, so, as such, she was going to be living with him. He was sure she'd like Franklin a lot more than boring old Evansville, there was much better shopping and they were only about fifteen minutes away from Nashville, where there was even more shopping, and music, and great food.

He ran his fingers through his slightly messy dark blond hair and went to go shave so he didn't look like a wreck, while also trying to think of where to take Alexa for lunch once she got there, he wasn't so sure she'd be in the mood to eat, but he thought he could probably make her eat a little something, right? Right

Once he'd finished that, he worked on cleaning up a little. He had manuscripts from all his attempts at getting a book of his published laying everywhere. He'd been told they were pretty good, but no publisher wanted to take a chance on him, so he just assumed that he wasn't all that good at writing, but it was still his dream to become a professional author.

He picked up lots of fast food wrappers and the odd frozen yogurt cup before the place didn't look like a wreck. Still looked like a single guy lived there for sure, but it wasn't as bad.

He sighed as he dragged his trash into the garage he didn't keep his car in and made a mental note note to forget trash day again before pulling out his cell phone to check the time and realizing that Aunt Mary and Alexandra would be getting there any minute, now. He almost felt sick to his stomach from the nervousness he was feeling, what if his sister hated it there? Well, there was only one way to find out, really, and that wasn't going to happen until she got there. So, as he walked into his living room to wait, he mumbled, "One thing at a time, Ali, one thing at a time..."

Maybe, just maybe, if we try hard...We can all get along...That is, if we get rid of all the mountain goats and grape flavored medicine. Then the world would be...Perfect.

Also, if you're interested in hearing the ramblings of a slightly insane person 24 hours a day and more than willing to be my minion and carry help carry out my plans to take over the internet: this would be my tumblr.
