Project Is Funded by Federal Stimulus
PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced that it will furnish the majority of energy distribution system products for the new $665 million Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center in Orlando, Florida, which is being constructed with federal stimulus dollars. Eaton's involvement with the project is through Hypower, Inc., a Ft. Lauderdale, Florida-based electrical contractor and longtime Eaton customer. Eaton is supplying switchgear, panel boards, switchboards, motor control center lineups, Power Xpert remote meter monitoring software, power factor correction capacitors, unit substations, and a combination of drives. This project enables Hypower to provide the VA Medical Center in Orlando with an electrical distribution system that will help maximize energy efficiency and save taxpayers money.
This contract is one of several recent projects that Eaton has undertaken for the Federal Government. Such engagements have included design and installation of a $20 million turn-key Solar Photovoltaic System at the Albuquerque, New Mexico Department of VA Health Care System facility, $8 million in electrical products and services for the San Antonio Military Medical Center on the Fort Sam Houston Army base in Texas, supplying hybrid electric power systems for 35 fuel-efficient shuttle buses purchased by the U.S. General Services Administration for use on U.S. military bases and providing energy conservation at the United States Postal Service (USPS) Eastern Facilities Service Office at postal facilities in North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and South Carolina.
Hypower Inc. is a commercial and residential electrical contractor based in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
