Stockholm Film Festival Launches Femme Fund

CANNES -- The Stockholm International Film Festival has launched a new film production fund specifically targeting female directors.

The fund will provide financing for a project by a female filmmaker at the beginning of her career. The resulting work will then premiere at the Stockholm fest the following year.

The fund, which launches this November, is backed by Swedish broadband group Telia and the Swedish Film Institute.

Further details, including application procedures, will be announced next month.

The first winner be announced at 2011 Stockholm Festival in November and the resulting film will bow there in 2012.
